A big Bula* welcome greets swimmers at the Fiji Ocean Swim
 
The 2008 Fiji Swim Festival, held on the weekend of October 17th-19th, was a great success, with swimmers from all over the world taking part in the 5 events.
The action commenced on the Friday with a 'Breakfast with the Champions'. Multiple English Channel swimmer Anne Cleveland from the USA was joined by 2007 Australian 10km champion Kate Brookes-Peterson, her coach (and formidable swimmer himself) John Papuni, and current Australian 10km champion and Beijing 10km Olympian, Melissa Gorman.

Idyllic swims, culture, and wild cuisine in the Yasawa Islands
On the Monday morning following the Fiji Ocean Swim, seven swimming adventurers left Plantation Island by speedboat to pick up the fast catamaran, the 'Yasawa Flyer', for a four hour journey through the magnificent Yasawa Island chain to our Swim Safari base at Oarsman's Bay Lodge.

The lodge nestles in a wide sandy bay on the south west coast of Nacula Island, and by early afternoon we had covered our first 2km swim off Oarsman's beach, along a beautiful crescent shaped reef.

The annual Pool to Peak swim is on again, at Newport Beach. Billed as the “friendly swim”, the 2km swim offers lots of prizes donated by the local business community, not to mention a trip to Vanuatu.

This swim has become one of the classics on the Sydney Ocean Swim calendar. The swim runs between the first two Surf Life Saving clubs in the world.
