(27 comments) Leveille Brothers Net 7 Goals in Machine Loss to BayhawksJun 2, 2008 - The brothers Leveille accounted for half of the Chicago Machine’s offensive output Sunday as Tewaaraton Trophy winner Mike Leveille made his MLL debut. Native son Steve Brooks and former Orangeman also started for the machine and notched a pair of goals as did Mike Leveille. Notwithstanding the output of these two new draft pciks, the Machine’s defense faltered in the fourth quarter and let the game slip out fo reach to the Washington Bayhawks who prevailed 18-14. Key here was Chicago’s penchant for penalties, racking up 10 of them and giving Washington the ability to convert on 4 of those 10 extra-man opportunities.

(84 comments) Syracuse Takes Title, 13-10 Over HopkinsMay 26, 2008 - As the clock ran down, Mike Leveille held the ball in his stick, securing Syracuse University’s tenth championship, 13-10 over Johns Hopkins. While the Blue Jays tried to slow down the game, the Orange proved they could succeed playing any style they needed to, prevailing in a hard fought match between these traditional foes. After going 5-8 last season, the 2008 Syracuse squad pulled the unlikely turnaround, taking the title. With revamped offseason workouts and some key changes, the Orange showed that one bad year was just that, and Syracuse is still a collegiate lacrosse power. (77 comments)296 photosbox score Salisbury captures 8th crown! 19-13 over Cortland.May 26, 2008 - The Salisbury Sea Gulls repeated as national champs by out-gunning the Cortland Red Dragons, 19-13. The Sea Gulls shot the ball well, finishing 19 of their 33 shots, took advantage of extra-man opportunities and got the play it needed from its defense to win its 8th National Championship. Salisbury's Kylor Berkman was the game's Most Outstanding Player as he racked up five goals and two assists. Seniors Greg Titus and Bruce Richardson went out with style contributing five points. Senior goalie Nick Fiorentino was the best story of the day as he stopped 14 Red Dragon shots. Joey Morgan and Chris Hannon both stepped up for Cortland with four goals and an assist each. (41 comments)222 photosbox score NYIT wins DII Crown, 16-11 over LemoyneMay 26, 2008 - The NYIT Bears overcame a 5-2 first quarter deficit to stop the Lemoyne Dolphins in their quest for a three-peat in the DII Championship game. NYIT was led by a five-goal performance by the game's Most Outstanding Player, attackman Keith Henderson. Matt Messina also added five points in the win while Austin Carino and Ryan Amengual contributed hat tricks. The Dolphins had a balanced scoring effort with four different players registering three points in the losing effort. NYIT scored the last four goals in the last nine minutes, pushing the score to 16-11, which undermined what a competitive, exciting game this was. (1 comment)146 photosbox score Senior Standards of SuccessMay 26, 2008 - At a program steeped in tradition, sometimes the stakes for the seniors are a little higher. Since the early '80s almost every player to come through Syracuse has left the school with at least one ring on his finger. On Monday, this year's senior class gets their crack at some championship tackle. (1 comment)1 photos 2008 All-AmericansMay 25, 2008 - The All-Americans for 2008 are in. (24 comments) Hopkins Upsets Duke 10-9May 24, 2008 - n typical Hopkins fashion, the Blue Jays controlled possessions, packed it in on defense, and found themselves heading back to the national championship game after defeating Duke 10-9. The high-octane Blue Devils never got their offense clicking, while Hopkins cashed in every opportunity. Hopkins will push on to Memorial Day against Syracuse, hoping to avenge another regular season loss in May.
(90 comments)185 photosbox score Syracuse Steals 2OT Win 12-11May 24, 2008 - Down by as many as five, the Syracuse Orange came back to top the Virginia Cavaliers 12-11 in two overtimes. In a game of sharp shooting and clutch goalie play at the end, the Orange survived two tense extra periods to steal the win. Mike Leveille, scoring his fifth goal of the day, ripping a low shot through traffic to beat bud Petit and send the Orange back to the championship game for the first time since 2004. (46 comments)272 photosbox score The Driving ForceMay 23, 2008 - When Paul Rabil is playing his best, he looks like a man among boys.
At 6’3”, 225 lbs, he is built more like a strong safety than a middie. His size, strength, and speed make him near impossible to defend. Often, it seems Rabil can get to the cage at will, slicing through defenses as they try double teams, early slides, and malicious pressure, all to no avail.
