(November 15, 2008) - Trailing 21-0 at the half, the Blue Knight football team showed they still had plenty of fight in them in the final game of their 2008 season today. Urbana scored 28 straight unanswered points to take the lead in the fourth quarter against the Marian College Knights. Senior RB Kirk Hannah, playing in his final game as a Blue Knight, started the scoring outburst for Urbana. On the opening drive of the second half, Hannah punched the ball across the goal line from four yards out to cut the deficit to 21-7. An Ian Iler 39-yard rush was the key play of the scoring drive. After the Blue Knight defense stopped Marian on their first drive of the second half, the Urbana offense took over at their own 10-yard line and orchestrated a 13-play, 90-yard drive to trim Marian's lead to just seven. The time-consuming drive featured a heavy dosage of Hannah, and it was capped by a 14-yard touchdown pass from QB Evan Gehlert to receiver James Hunter. The Blue Knights weren't done yet. Just four minutes later, the Urbana defense got in on the act. Senior defensive tackle Brian Wetzler scooped up a Marian fumble and ran 17 yards for the game-tying touchdown. On Marian's ensuing drive, the fired up defense forced a three-and-out. The momentum stayed with the Blue Knights on their next drive as the team rode the power-running game Kirk Hannah. The eight-play drive featured six rushes by the senior running back, including an 11-yard scamper into the endzone to give Urbana its first lead of the day. The Rodion Potapenko extra point gave the visiting team a 28-21 lead with 13:30 to play. Unfortunately for Urbana, that proved to be six seconds too much. The Blue Knight defense turned away three straight Marian drives, but they needed to come up with one more stop with six seconds remaining to secure the victory. From 27 yards out, Marian QB Clay Coomer found John Pfifer for the game-tying TD on third down. Marian's 10 play drive covered 69 yards in just 1:21 to force overtime. The home team got possession of the ball first in overtime, and riding the momentum and the energy from their home crowd, the Knights from Marian scored on their third play in overtime. RB William Stubbs found paydirt from 13 yards out to stake the home team to a 35-28 lead. The Blue Knights took over on the 25-yard line, needing a touchdown to send the game into a second OT. On first down, Gehlert found Hannah for a 15-yard pick-up. On first and goal, the Blue Knights once again leaned on Hannah to carry the team. He picked up four yards on the rush, but the play was called back on a holding penalty. Urbana found themselves with a first and goal from 20 yards out, and a six-yard loss on a quarterback sack sent the offense back to the 26-yard line for a second and goal. Two incomplete passes and another sack sealed the deal. Marian won their seventh game of the season, 35-28. The Blue Knights put forth an incredible effort in their final game of their 2008 season, but fell just short. For Marian, they wrapped up their season with a 7-4 record, with their four losses all coming to ranked opponents. They capped a six-win turnaround after finishing 1-9 last season. Despite the loss, Urbana had several players turn in stellar performances. Kirk Hannah ran for 190 yards on an astounding 40 rushes in the game, including 2 TDs. He also caught two passes for 18 yards. On the season, Hannah broke the 1,000 yard mark for the third straight year. He broke his own Urbana record for rushing yards in a season. The new mark is now 1,145 yards. WR Jerrod Gaines caught six passes for 106 yards, and WR Ian Iler rushed for 58 yards and caught a pass for 23 more. On defense, Wetzler, Travis Brisco, Chad Kinkead and Justin Stechenfinger tied for the team lead in tackles with 8. Wetzler also added the fumble recovery for a touchdown and a QB hurry. Kinkead intercepted a fourth quarter pass, and Brisco and Stechenfinger both recorded a tackle for a loss. Brisco notched his team leading sixth QB sack of the season. Brisco also edged Kinkead for the season lead in tackles, 84-83. [Game Stats] [2008 Final Season Stats] Panthers Beat Blue Knights RB Kirk Hannah tops 100 yards rushing in Urbana's 56-0 loss COLUMBUS, Ohio (November 8, 2008) - The 24th-ranked Ohio Dominican University Panthers clung to their slim playoff hopes with a 56-0 rout of the Blue Knights in Columbus today. Panther quarterback Cris Reisert broke two NAIA national records for career passing yards and career touchdown passes in the win. The Panthers jumped out to a 21-0 first quarter lead on the strength of three Reisert TD passes, and they never looked back. Seven times, the Blue Knights drove the ball inside Panther territory, but they were unable to put points on the board on any of the seven drives. Twice they punted, twice they fumbled, and three times they lost the ball on downs. Senior RB Kirk Hannah had a big day for the Blue Knights. He rushed 31 times for 108 yards. Hannah is now the all-time leader in rushing attempts at Urbana. He now owns 6 Urbana rushing records. Urbana's other senior RB, Antwain Reine, also had a big day rushing, picking up 56 yards on the ground in just six carries. LB Justin Stechenfinger led the Urbana defense in tackles once again with 8. He also forced a fumble. Rob Delahanty, Chad Kinkead and Travis Brisco were right behind with 7 total tackles. The Blue Knights wrap up their season next Saturday at Marian College. Urbana finished their 2007 season with a big 42-14 victory against Marian at home. The team will try to break out of a slump and end the season on a high note once again. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 pm. [Game Stats] Blue Knights Face Fourth Straight Ranked Opponent On Saturday, Urbana University and #24 Ohio Dominican University will play for bragging rights in what is blossoming into a budding rivalry. The schools have faced each other in each of the past four seasons, with the series split at two wins apiece. There are 18 seniors Blue Knights that would like to pull off the upset and erase the Panthers’ slim playoff hopes. Last year's game proved to be a shootout at Ellis Field. The undefeated and third-ranked Panthers clung to a 31-28 lead in the fourth quarter before kicking their high-powered offense into a second gear and running off three straight touchdowns to win the game 50-28. The rivalry is renewed this Saturday at 12:30 PM. [Game Notes] Gaines and Brisco Highlight ICAA Players of the Week Two Blue Knights named POTW in same week for the first time this season BILLINGS, Mont. (November 2, 2008) – The Blue Knights could not pull off the upset of undefeated and third-ranked St. Francis (IN) on Saturday, but some members of the offense and defense were able to post excellent numbers in the game. Today, a member from each squad were honored as Players of the Week in the Independents Collegiate Athletic Association (ICAA). The ICAA in football is composed of seven independent NCAA Division II schools: Lake Erie, Lambuth, North Greenville, Oklahoma Panhandle State, Southwest Baptist, UNC-Pembroke and Urbana. The Player of the Week selections were made by ICAA Director Mike Bond. Offensive Player went to QB Sean Bedevelsky (Fr./Brunswick, Ohio) of Lake Erie College and WR Jerrod Gaines (Jr./Springfield, Ohio) of Urbana University. In a 38-31 win over Kentucky Wesleyan, Bedevelsky was 21-of-27 for 308 yards and threw four touchdown passes. He ran for 38 yards to total 346 yards and threw two TD passes in the last eight minutes for the come-from-behind win. In a 62-20 loss to St. Francis (Ind.), Gaines caught nine passes for 186 yards and two touchdowns. He also returned one kickoff for 13 yards, totalling 199 all-purpose yards for the day. Defensive Player went to DL Travis Brisco (So./Columbus, Ohio) of Urbana and LB Jarred Schumpert (Jr./Gilmer, Texas) of Southwest Baptist. In a 62-20 loss to St. Francis (Ind.), Brisco had five solo tackles with five assists for 10 total tackles, two tackles for a loss, recovered a fumble and had a QB sack. In a 38-7 win over St. Joseph’s (Ind.), Schumpert had six solo tackles with four assists for 10 total tackles, three tackles for a loss, recovered a fumble, blocked a pass and had ½ QB sack. Gaines and Brisco join running back Kirk Hannah, punt returner Jason Conner, and linebacker Justin Stechenfinger as Player of the Week winners for Urbana this season. Blue Knights Lose Battle With #3 St. Francis on Senior Day Junior WR Jerrod Gaines has career day in loss URBANA, Ohio (Nov. 1, 2008) – On a beautiful autumn afternoon, 18 Urbana seniors wrapped up their careers at Ellis Field. Unfortunately, the seniors were unable to score a major upset in their final home game as the third-ranked Cougars from St. Francis (IN) won in a rout, 62-20. St. Francis owns the best offense in the nation in NAIA, and it showed early and often this afternoon. The Cougars scored on the opening drive just 2:16 into the ball game with a 24-yard touchdown run by their quick and diminutive running back Daniel Carter. Standing 5'7" and weighing in at just 157 pounds, Carter was difficult to find and tackle all day long. He finished with 70 total yards on 15 touches with 2 touchdowns. Cougar QB Jeff Wedding was just as impressive for St. Francis. Playing only the first half, Wedding threw for 247 yards and four touchdowns on 16-for-22 passing. After the Carter score, Wedding found four different Cougar receivers on four straight touchdown passes to put St. Francis up 34-0. Blue Knight linebacker Bryan Burrell blocked an extra point after the Cougars fourth TD of the day. It was the first extra point missed by St. Francis kicker Rhys Barnhart in over 90 attempts. Despite the lopsided score, Urbana had a couple of scoring opportunities in the first half. Redshirt freshman QB Evan Gehlert was back under center for the Blue Knights after missing the previous game with an injury. With 9:22 remaining in the second quarter, Gehlert found a streaking Jerrod Gaines on the Urbana sideline for a 78 yard catch and run. Gaines dove for the pylon, but was knocked out of bounds at the St. Francis two-yard line. Urbana couldn't punch the ball in from there after three plays and opted to kick the field goal. The kick was blocked, but a Cougar was offsides. Rather than re-kick, head coach Dave Taynor decided to go for it on fourth down from the four-yard line. Gehlert was sacked on the fourth-and-goal play, and the scoring opportunity was squandered. On the Blue Knights final drive of the half, Gehlert led his team 75 yards in under two minutes, scoring their first touchdown of the game with one second remaining in the half. Gehlert found Ian Iler in the back corner of the endzone. The point after was blocked, and the Blue Knights trailed 34-6 at the half. At the start of the second half, St. Francis flexed their muscles. With some of their starters on the sideline to start the half, back-up quarterback Shaine Tierney led the Cougars on three straight scoring drives. The St. Francis defense got in on the act, scoring a TD of their own on a 26-yard interception return by linebacker Adam Greene. The score ballooned to 62-6 before the Blue Knights could stop the bleeding. Following the pick six, Gehlert orchestrated an 11-play drive that covered 71-yards for another Urbana touchdown. The Cougars got their first heavy dosage of Kirk Hannah on the drive, as he carried 5 times for 43 yards. The scoring drive was capped when Gehlert hooked up with his favorite target of the day, Gaines, for a 24-yard touchdown catch, but the Blue Knights weren't done yet. The defense forced a three-and-out on the strength of a sack by seniors Wuan Minor and Ben Bastin. After the 10-yard punt return by senior Jason Conner, the offense got behind a couple of more seniors to mount a 7-play 64-yard scoring drive with just 2:53 remaining. Senior James Hunter got his first carry of the season, a nine-yarder up the middle to get things started. Seniors Antwain Reine and Hannah carried the ball three more times behind two seniors on the right side of the offensive line, tackle Kyle Yelton and guard Craig Cross. A couple of plays later, Gehlert hooked up with a diving Gaines for his third TD pass of the game. Gehlert finished the day 15-for-31 passing for a career-high 245 yards. Gaines was the benefactor, as he caught 9 balls for 186 yards and 2 TDs. Hannah was tough to tackle all day as well. He finished with 85 yards on 16 rushes against the second-ranked defense in the NAIA. On defense, several Blue Knights turned in excellent performances. Chad Kinkead led the team in tackles with 11. Travis Brisco was right behind with 10 tackles, including 2 for a loss, 1 sack, 1 fumble recovery, and 1 quarterback hurry. Safety Josh Turnbo turned in one of the most impressive hitting performances of the season, making a career-high 9 tackles, including two of the bone-rattling variety. Seniors Brian Wetzler, Chris Rutledge, Robert Delahanty, Jason Conner, Olajuwon Butler, and Johnny Wright all finished with 4 or more tackles, and senior special teamer Emmanuel Butters wowed the crowd all day long with his wedge-busting, helmet-rattling hits on kick coverage. Butters finished with 3 special team tackles on the day. The Blue Knights are done at home for the season, but they still have two games remaining on their schedule. Next Saturday, they travel to Columbus to take on their ranked rivals from Ohio Dominican University. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:30. [Game Stats] [Photo Gallery] Stechenfinger Named ICAA Defensive Player of the Week Joins Jason Conner and Kirk Hannah as Award Winners BILLINGS, Mont. (October 28, 2008) – The Independents Collegiate Athletic Association is composed of seven NCAA Division II independent football teams. These teams are Lake Erie, Lambuth, North Greenville, Oklahoma Panhandle State, Southwest Baptist, UNC-Pembroke and Urbana. The Player of the Week selections were made by ICAA Director Mike Bond. Offensive Player went to RB Rashad Cummings (Sr./Mt. Dora, N.C.) of North Greenville. In a 45-21 win over Edwards Waters, he carried the ball 20 times for 156 yards and two touchdowns. He caught just one pass, but it went for 46 yards and a touchdown. Cummings totaled 202 yards in all-purpose yards. Defensive Player of the Week went to LB Justin Stechenfinger (Jr./Wilmington, Ohio) of Urbana University. In a 22-6 loss to 18th ranked Malone University, Stechenfinger had six solo tackles with three assists for nine total tackles. He also had three tackles for a loss, one quarterback sack and forced a fumble. It is the second week in a row that Stechenfinger was nominated for the award. In Week 7, he led Urbana with 12 total tackles, including 4 TFL. Special Teams Player went to P Ronnie Partridge (Fr./Saluda, S.C.) of North Greenville. In a 45-21 win over Edward Waters, he kept the opponents pinned back with seven punts for 299 yards, averaging 42.7 yards a boot. Blue Knights Face #3 Cougars on Senior Day Urbana is set to take undefeated St. Francis University (IN) on Saturday. In the latest NAIA poll, the Cougars are ranked third in the nation. Saturday is Senior Day for 18 Urbana football players. The Blue Knights hope to make it a special day for the seniors and bounce back after a tough loss against #18 Malone last week. Last season, the ranked Cougars handed Urbana a 42-16 loss in Fort Wayne. The Cougars boast the best scoring offense in the nation in NAIA. At the controls of their high-powered offense is QB Jeff Wedding. He has completed 55% of his passes for over 1,400 yards and 14 TDs. RB Daniel Carter gets the majority of the carries for the Cougars. He has 80 rushes for over 500 yards and 10 TDs. The explosive Cougar offense averages 479 yards per game. SFU is currently on a seven-game winning streak, including a 52-12 drubbing of Walsh last Saturday. The Cougar defense is just as lethal as their offense. They are allowing under 7 points per game and just 207 total yards per game. The Blue Knight defense is coming off an impressive performance of their own in a 22-6 loss to #18 Malone. The defense allowed just 13 points to a team that was averaging over 36 points per game. They were stout against the run, allowing just 2.1 yards per carry. The Blue Knights will need to play inspired football to end their six-game skid and send their 18 seniors out with an epic win. [Game Notes] Blue Knights Lose on the Road to Nationally Ranked Malone Urbana falls behind by 22, unable to mount a comeback CANTON, Ohio (October 11, 2008) – The Blue Knights' defense answered the challenge today. The 18th ranked Malone University Pioneers entered today's contest scoring over 36 points per game, but their high-powered offense could only muster one offensive touchdown. Unfortunately for Urbana, the Pioneers found alternative way to score as they kicked two field goals, recorded a safety, and returned the ensuing kick-off 78 yards for a touchdown. The Pioneers raced out to a 22-0 lead, and Urbana was unable to mount a serious comeback. Urbana appeared to be in business early in the first quarter. On Malone's opening drive, Blue Knight linebacker Justin Stechenfinger forced a fumble that was recovered by cornerback Jason Conner. Urbana picked up a first down and marched the ball to mid-field, but the drive stalled there and the Blue Knights were forced to punt. The Pioneers' explosive offense hit on a big play just four plays later as QB Billy Bob Orsagh found his favorite target Derek Deardorff for a 42-yard TD to stake the Pioneers to an early 7-0 lead. The Blue Knights' offense was unable to answer the Pioneers all day long. After a quick three-and-out for Urbana, Malone finished a clock-draining 12-play drive with a field goal to put the Pioneers up 10. Urbana responded with yet another quick three-and-out. After allowing another Pioneer field goal, the Blue Knight defense tightened. The defensive unit did not allow a score in the second half. They also forced two turnovers, recorded four quarterback sacks and blocked two kicks, but their counterparts on the offensive side of the ball struggled to get anything going until late in the fourth quarter. Senior DB Terry Lunser blocked a Pioneer punt to give the Blue Knights excellent field position at the Malone 12-yard line. A few plays later, senior Kirk Hannah was able to punch the ball in from a yard out. The extra point was blocked, and Urbana found themselves down 22-6 with just over four minutes remaining. It was as close as Urbana would get on a chilly day in Canton. Several defensive players shined for the Blue Knights despite the team's sixth straight loss. Stechenfinger led the team in tackles for the second week in a row with 9, including 3 tackles for a loss and 1 sack. He also had a forced fumble. Lunser and Josh Turnbo both blocked kicks for the Blue Knights, and sophomore Bryan Burrell made four tackles, 1.5 for a loss, and he also intercepted his third pass of the season. Olajuwon Butler chipped in with five tackles and a forced fumble, and Chad Kinkead and Rob Delahanty helped out with six tackles apiece, including a sack for Kinkead and 1.5 TFL for Delahanty. The Blue Knights return home next Saturday for a match-up with national powerhouse the University of St. Francis (Ind.). It is Senior Day for 17 Urbana seniors. Kickoff is slated for noon. [Game Stats] Blue Knights and Pioneers Clash in Canton on Saturday The Urbana University football team travels to Canton, Ohio for the second time in three weeks, this time looking for a different result against #18 Malone University. Two weeks ago, the Blue Knights gave Walsh University all they could handle at Canton's Fawcett Stadium before falling in the 4th quarter of a 30-21 loss. Malone just defeated Walsh 24-21 on a late TD this past Saturday. Last season, Malone defeated Urbana 21-7 at Ellis Field. The Pioneers lead the all-time series 10-5. In those games the average score is 32-19 in the Pioneers favor.   Malone, led by experienced senior QB Billy Bob Orsagh, will be the Blue Knights second straight ranked opponent. Orsagh threw for 150 yards and a TD last year against the Blue Knights. The Texas-native is currently 5th in the NAIA in passing yards per game with 292.4.   In last season's loss, Urbana defenders sacked Orsagh six times, including four by Travis Brisco. The Blue Knights hope for the same success in the pass rush. They must limit Malone's big plays. The Pioneers average 36 points per game.   In last weeks loss to #16 St. Xavier, the Urbana offense continued it's progression with redshirt freshman QB  Evan Gehlert. Gehlert found Tariq Kalimullah in the corner of the end zone for his first career TD pass. Unfortunately, it was the  Blue Knights' only score of the contest. However, Urbana enjoyed its first turnover-free game of the season.   Linebacker Justin Stechenfinger added to his solid junior season by tying his career-high with 12 tackles last week. Stechenfinger and the rest of the stingy Blue Knight defense hopes to contain Malone's potent offense and come away from Canton with a victory. [Game Notes] Blue Knights Drop Game Against #16 St. Xavier Linebacker Justin Stechenfinger has big day in the loss URBANA, Ohio (October 18, 2008) – On a blustery day at Ellis Field, the 16th ranked Cougars from St. Xavier University pounced on the Blue Knights early, scoring touchdowns on their first two drives to take a quick 14-0 lead. On the next two drives, Urbana's defense tightened to force a three-and-out and a turnover. Senior CB Jason Conner picked off a long ball to give the offense excellent field position, but the Blue Knights' drive stalled after only three plays and they were forced to punt from their own 35-yard line. St. Xavier promptly drove down the field for their third TD of the day. The score remained 21-0 into the third quarter. The Blue Knights offense came out ready to play in the second half. On their second drive, they marched 60 yards down the field for their first score of the day. Quarterback Evan Gehlert found his tight end, Tariq Kalimullah, on a nine-yard misdirection play. Unfortunately, the momentum didn't stay with the Blue Knights for long as the Cougars answered Urbana with a touchdown of their own on the following drive. St. Xavier tacked on one more touchdown at the start of the fourth quarter to make the final score 35-7. Several Blue Knights played well despite the loss. RB Kirk Hannah rushed for 73 yards. QB Evan Gehlert was 13-for-23 with 143 yards passing and one TD in only his second career start. On defense, LB Justin Stechenfinger finished with a team-high 12 tackles, including 4 tackles for a loss, and DB Jerrod Slater finished with 6 tackles, 2.5 TFL, and 1 sack. The team hits the road again next Saturday as they travel to Canton, Ohio for the second time in three weeks. They will face their second straight nationally-ranked opponent in the Malone University Pioneers. Game time is 2:00 pm.[Game Stats] [Photo Gallery] No. 16 St. Xavier Invades Ellis Field The Urbana Blue Knights (1-5) square off with their second ranked opponent of the season when the 16th ranked Cougars from St. Xavier come to Ellis Field. The Blue Knights have lost their last five games to ranked teams dating back to last year. They are 0-1 against ranked opponents this year (St. Francis, Ill.). Last Saturday's 30-21 loss to Walsh was Urbana's second straight close game. Victory has escape them in the last minutes of each game. The Blue Knights turned to redshirt freshman QB Evan Gehlert to give the offense a spark against Walsh, and Gehlert delivered. Gehlert led the Blue Knights on three scoring drives during the course of the game. He finished with 171 yards passing in his first collegiate start. Senior RB Kirk Hannah had gains of 43, and 71 on the day and finished with 154 yards and 2 TDs. Senior Jason Conner scored on an 84 yard punt return which helped him garner ICAA Special Teams Player of the Week honors. Conner leads the nation in all divisions (NCAA DI, DII, DIII, and NAIA) in average yards per punt return (30.2 yards). St. Xavier upset then No. 15 Ohio Dominican to move to 4-2 on the year and move up the national rankings. The Cougars bring the nation's number six ranked scoring defense into Ellis Field, surrendering only 12 ppg. They held an ODU squad that scores close to 35 ppg to just 14 points in last Saturday's win. A tough match-up lies ahead for Hannah, who is averaging 109.7 rushing ypg. The Cougars yield only 1.8 yards per carry. Last season the sixth-ranked Cougars beat the 19th-ranked Blue Knights 41-13. St. Xavier leads the all-time series 5-1, winning the past 5 games. Kickoff is at noon on Saturday. [Game Notes] Conner Named ICAA Special Teams Player of the Week BILLINGS , Mont. (October 14, 2008) – For the first time this season, there was not a shared player of the week in the ICAA. The ICAA is composed of seven independent football teams in NCAA Division II (Lake Erie, Lambuth, North Greenville , Oklahoma Panhandle State, Southwest Baptist, UNC-Pembroke and Urbana).  The selections were made by ICAA Director Mike Bond. Special Teams Player went to DB Jason Conner (Sr./Dayton, Ohio ) of Urbana .  In a 30-21 loss to Walsh, he returned a punt 86 yards for a touchdown.  He also returned two kickoffs for 12 yards. Jason Conner leads the nation in all divisions (NCAA DI, DII, DIII, and NAIA) in average yards per punt return.  He has 9 punt returns through the first 6 games for a total of 272 yards.  He is averaging an amazing 30.2 yards per punt return.  Last week, he returned a punt 84-yards for a TD against Walsh.  He also has punt returns of 49 and 51 yards already this season.  NCAA Division III Claremont’s Nick Marineau is 2nd in the nation with 26.8 yards per return (on just 4 total returns).  LSU’s Trindon Holliday is tops in punt return average in Division I with 25.1 yards per return, good for 4th in the nation behind Conner, Marineau, and Colorado St.-Pueblo’s Markus Turner (26.1).  Offensive Player of the week in the ICAA went to QB Cory Smith (So./Indian Trail, N.C.) of UNC-Pembroke.  In a 36-14 win over West Virginia Weselyan, he was a dazzling 22-of-30 for 311 yards and five touchdowns with no interceptions. Defensive Player went to DB Tyrin Holt (Jr./Arlington, Texas ) of Lambuth.  In a 42-37 win over Shorter, he had 10 solo tackles with three assists for 13 total tackles and one tackle for a loss. Kicking Miscues Continue, Blue Knights Fall 30-21 Urbana fails to convert on 3 PATs, loses late lead to Walsh CANTON, Ohio (October 11, 2008) – The Blue Knight football team experienced a cruel case of deja vu on Saturday. For the second week in a row, Urbana moved the football with relative ease and seemed to be in control of today's game. One minute after receiving the opening kickoff, the Blue Knights charged down the field for a quick score. Kirk Hannah capped the three-play drive with an eight yard TD run to put the Blue Knights up 6-0. [more] [Game Stats] Blue Knights Look to Rebound Against Walsh After a tough and emotional overtime loss on Homecoming to Taylor, the Blue Knights will seek redemption this Saturday against Walsh. The Cavaliers lead the all-time series 12-1, with Urbana's only win coming last year, on Homecoming, by a score of 9-6. Urbana was able to rack up 413 yards of offense against Taylor, but penalties and interceptions halted their best drives. Senior RB Kirk Hannah had three rushing touchdowns of 16, 70, and 19 yards called back due to penalties. The Blue Knights will look to clean up their mistakes against a Cavalier defense that is struggling through their first 5 games this season. The Urbana defense, headed by leading tackler, sophomore LB Travis Brisco, hope to have a repeat performance as they allowed only 151 yards and no scores against Taylor. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. at Walsh University's Fawcett Stadium this Saturday. [Game Notes] Special Teams Mistakes Cost Urbana on Homecoming Blue Knights muff PAT try to tie game in OT, lose 14-13 to Taylor URBANA, Ohio (October 4, 2008) – Everything seemed to be going Urbana's way on this beautiful day at Ellis Field. The sun was shining, the offense was moving the ball, the defense was dominating and the Blue Knights appeared to be on their way to a Homecoming game victory over the visiting Taylor Trojans. Urbana's kicking miscues were not supposed to be in the script of this perfect afternoon. On the day, the Urbana field goal and PAT units missed a 38 yard field goal, had two kicks blocked, and muffed the snap on two more kicks. The mistakes proved to be too costly to overcome as the Blue Knights dropped their first Homecoming game in seven years by a score of 14-13 in overtime.
