Aqua Buffs place 6th, Pigford qualifies
Sewanee, Tenn. (Nov. 8, 2008) --- The Milligan College swim team was one of 11 teams competing in the Sewanee Invitational this weekend. The men's team placed sixth with a total score of 246.5, and the women's team placed eighth with a total score of 170. University of the Cumberlands took the win for both the men's and women's competitions with scores of 952.5 and 912.5, respectively.
Freshman Aaron Pigford (Johnson City, Tenn.) qualified for Nationals, placing fifth in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:04.2. Pigford also contributed to first- and second-place wins for the men's relays.
The Aqua Buffs showed their potential in the men's relays.
The Aqua Buffs took first in the 100-yard freestyle relay. The relay team comprised of freshman Greg Cathers (Kingsport, Tenn.), freshman Eron Cavanaugh (Plainfield, Ind.), sophomore Taylor Duran (Johnson City, Tenn.) and Pigford recorded a winning time of 42.1.

Aqua Buffs qualify relays for nationals
Pfeiffer, N.C. (Nov. 1, 2008) --- The Milligan College swim team challenged NCAA Division II Pfeiffer University (Pfeiffer, N.C.), but fell short to lose 95-73 on the women's side, and 107-74 on the men's side.
Both the Buffs and Lady Buffs qualified a relay for nationals. On the men's side, the 400 yard freestyle relay qualified with a time of 3:28.19. The relay consisted of sophomores Taylor Duran (Johnson City, Tenn.) and Greg Cathers (Kingsport, Tenn.), and freshmen Aaron Pigford (Johnson City, Tenn.) and Eron Cavanaugh (Plainfield, Ind.).
The Lady Buffs qualified their 400 yard medley relay team for nationals. They swam to a time of 4:40.35. The relay consisted of freshman Victoria Licari (Atascadero, Calif.) and sophomores Anna Goss (Heiskell, Tenn.), Darcee Kubisiak (Johnson City, Tenn.), and Rachel Landry (Boone, N.C.) .
