Spruce Meadows Battle of the Breeds Calgary, AB - Much to the chagrin of the horse breeds, 2008 will be remembered as the year of the Mule. With fourteen breeds competing in the largest Battle of the Breeds ever, experience and consistency paid off for Team Mule. Their four veteran members, Deloit Wolfe and "Horse" from Missoula, MT; Morgans Nielsen and Maizie from Falkland, BC; Jessical Bishop and LS Hot Buckaroo from Scio, OR; and Katherine Cook and Mastco Jane from Camerose, AB won the Battle of the Breeds with a first in Compulsories, a fourth in Jeopardy Jumping, a third in Precision Driving, and a fourth in Trail Riding. Their standings were good enough to deliver a Battle Championship despite a last-place finish in Barrel Racing. After overcoming prejudice to enter the Battle many years ago, Team Mule can proudly celebrate their very first Battle Championship.
