August 19, 2008 - Cancellation this weekendThank you for your patience over the last two months. It has been an extremely difficult time in my personal life. As many of you know, my father who was also a great fan of the tour and the players passed away. I received an overwhelming amount of calls and emails during the last two months, and I want to thank everyone for their support. It continuously reminds me of the family we have built on this tour.
I do apologize as the previously planned August 23rd & 24th event has been cancelled. We are in the process of scheduling the fall events. Please keep your eye on the website schedule
as we will be updating it as we secure rooms for the events.

returns to the winner's circle at Blue Fox Billiards
   Scott TollefsonThe Tiger Tour was back at Blue Fox Billiards in Winchester VA on July 19th and 20th for another great event. Saturday's Open Division drew 51 players including Pro Players
John Schmidt
and
Mike Davis
and WPBA Pro
Janet Atwell
alongside several of the top tour players including
Shaun Wilkie,
Brandon Shuff,
Larry Kressel
and Manny Chau.

as a crowd pleaser with the first round of matches:
John Schmidt
vs. Manny Chau,
Mike Davis
vs.
Brandon Shuff. Both matches went to the hill with Schmidt and Shuff advancing with wins.
The biggest surprise for the weekend however came from newcomer to the tour
Scott Tollefson, former InsidePool Amateur Player of the Year, and notable bar-box champion. Tollefson's first round match proved to be the toughest he would have all day when he advanced with a 9-8 win over
Chris Adams. In his next round he quickly dispatched of Rick Glasscock 9-1 before meeting up with
Brandon Shuff
and sending him also to the elimination bracket with a loss of 9-4. Tollefson met up with a determined
Larry Kressel, who was fresh off a 9-7 victory over Blue Fox house pro
Matt Clatterbuck.
Scott Tollefson
proved to be the more determined player and won the match against Kressel 9-7 to advance to a hot seat match against
John Schmidt.
The rail birds were anxious to see the match between Schmidt and Tollefson as Schmidt had fought through a tough field of players after his first round hill match with Chau. Schmidt's path to the winner's bracket semi's included wins over
Paul Helms
9-4, another hill match against
Joey Ryan,
Kevin West
9-7 and another hard fought battle of 9-6 against
Danny Green. Tollefson took the lag and proceeded to stun the crowd as he ran through 8 racks stopping to safe Schmidt only once. On the hill Tollefson broke and made the 9-ball in the top pocket but a scratch on the cue ball gave Schmidt a final turn at the table. It wasn't an easy out and Schmidt hung up the three ball leaving the table wide open. Schmidt knew he had lost the set and politely conceded the remaining balls and congratulated Tollefson on taking the hot seat.
In the bottom half of the elimination bracket,
Shaun Wilkie, fresh off his last Tiger Tour win at the Bob Stock's Memorial Event wasn't going to go out quietly. He dispatched
Kevin West
7-4, and
Larry Kressel
7-5, while the top half of the bracket saw tour regular
Joey Ryan
win over
Brandon Shuff
7-4 before taking a loss to
Danny Green
7-3 to place Green in the elimination bracket semi's against Wilkie. Wilkie took the match against Green 7-4 to match up against Schmidt. The match went to Wilkie and he moved on to play against Tollefson who was still on fire from his 9-0 win over Schmidt. Tollefson continued to impress the crowds with his speed play, giving up one game early in the set before taking an incredible lead of 8-1 over Wilkie. He opened the door one more time allowing Wilkie another game at 8-2, but didn't offer another amazingly only losing 2 games in the race to 11 against Wilkie.
 Sueyen RheeThe Sunday Ladies tournament saw a turnout of 24 ladies competing for the WPBA Carolina Classic qualifier spot, sponsored by Monster energy drink. WPBA Pro Players

and former pro
Ming Ng
were in attendance for this event. There were players from Virginia, Maryland, Tennessee, North Carolina and Florida all vying for the spot.
Janet Atwell, after finishing 9th – 12th in the Open Division, took an early loss of 7-2 to
Ming Ng. The final four on the winner's bracket saw
Ming Ng
vs.
Karen Webb
of North Carolina, and North Carolinian
Katie Cowan
vs.
Buffy Jolie
of Tennessee. Ng and Jolie come out ahead in their matches. Cowan met up with Rhee in the elimination bracket, with Rhee taking the win 7-2. Webb also took a back to back loss against newcomer
Mirjuana Grujiacic, placing Grujiacic in the quarter finals with Rhee. The tournament went late into Sunday evening, and the long day played a toll on the players. Rhee pulled out of the semis with a win of 7-5 to face
Buffy Jolie
of Tennessee for the semi finals. Rhee proved to be determined and quickly took Jolie with a sweeping 7-0 win to face Ng for the finals. Ng started strong with a 3-0 lead, but lost the lead and the race to Rhee 9-3. Rhee walked away with the Qualifier spot for the WPBA Carolinas Open.
