What is the difference between Tennis Champions and mere tennis players?

It is not the power of the serve, nor the grace of their footwork, nor the strength of their backhand... It is the POWER OF THEIR MIND. "Great, tell me something I don't know. I know that with better mental training I might be winning more, but where can I get it? I already read the Inner Game of Tennis." Well, there was something missing in that great book by Tim Gallwey. The book Tennis: Play the Mental Game will give you the next generation of practical mental training to create the success your hard work deserves. When we play badly, we have been taught from an early age to try harder, work harder, and/or take more lessons, etc. But maybe you need to explore a different way of playing. One that is proven to work every time. One that is just not understood and/or taught by most coaches. When you use the "Core Principles" of the mental game, the sky is the limit. You will be surprised at how much better you will play and how much more mentally tough you will be. My concern is that, without spending some time on your mental game you will continue to struggle to reach your full potential, if you get there at all. Why Aren't More Players Using These Mental Game Principles? This is a great question. The answer is: " I just don't know." Maybe no one has presented these ideas clearly and in such a way that they could truly experience what playing the mental game really means. Who is David Ranney? No, I do not have a PHD in sports psychology or even psychology, but I have been studying the mental game for over 25 years. I know how to create the optimum mental state of mind and I have proven it to myself and to many others. As a junior, I was ranked Nationally 6th in Singles and 3rd in doubles, represented the U.S. at Junior Wimbledon, played on the Junior Davis Cup team and played for the University of Southern California when we were National Champions. (Read more about me) After years of playing with intense frustration, I discovered Tim Gallwey and The Inner Game of Tennis. I took two lessons from Tim when I was in my 30's and that experience changed my life forever and set me on the path of playing the mental game. When you begin to play the inner game, your entire perspective of the game of tennis will change too. My approach to coaching the game of tennis guarantees learning to be Mentally Tough With over 25 years of experience with the mental game of tennis, I've developed concepts, drills, and strategies that are proven to take your game to higher levels by developing mental toughness faster than traditional approaches. When you practice what I teach, I can guarantee that you will see and experience results right there on the court. And with this mental training, you will continue to progress for the rest of your life because you will discover things about yourself that you never knew before. You Can Master A Process Proven To Accelerate Mental Toughness. Yes, the concepts are easy to understand, but it will still take work and time. Successfully taking your game to the next level starts with just 3 steps. Explore and Experience: What it's like to play the mental game. Learn: Clear and powerful techniques to enhance your performance. Practice: Repetition is the key to mastery. It just happens faster when you play the mental game. Please subscribe to my Free Mini Lessons Before I tell you more about the mental game, getting my book or whether you want personal instruction, I would like to invite you to sign up for my Mini Lessons that I send out every two weeks. You will get "The Mother of All Tips" immediately! And for free. Even the Mini Lessons are free.  David Ranney's Mini Lessons Email: First Name: Last Name: Privacy is important to me; therefore, I will not sell, rent, or give your name or address to anyone. At any point, you can select the link at the bottom of every e-mail to unsubscribe. These Mini Lessons that I send out every two weeks are segments from my book, or some other information that I believe will enhance your playing of the inner game. In each Mini Lesson you will get a summary of the "Core Principles" of the mental game as well as other information. If you have my book, many of these Mini Lessons will be a reminder for you and will allow you to refine parts of your mental game that you may have forgotten or may need to re-visit. Even if you don't ever get my book, over time you will learn a great deal about how to play the inner game . Would you consider a book that will improve your consistency immediately? Billie Jean King wrote that my book," ...provides clear, easy to follow “mini lessons” and tips that will benefit players of any level." Just by doing Lessons #2 and #40 in my book, Tennis: Play the Mental Game, you will see the improvement immediately. Lesson #40 is the "Mother of All Tips" which you will get immediately when you subscribe to my Mini Lessons (see below). In addition, your tennis will continue to improve as you play with and use all my mental game principles and lessons. My personal instruction and/or book, will change the way you play so that not only will you play winning tennis, but you will have more fun doing it. You will learn the secret of what seeing the ball really means, you will learn how to breathe, and best of all you will learn how to relax on the court so playing will be so much more fun. My tennis book gives you very clear, step-by-step instructions on how to play the Mental Game. You will also find out Roger Federer's secret of how he plays the mental game and is so mentally tough. You can learn to play the same way. Well, maybe not as good, but you will know what he knows. Here are a few of the things you will learn in my book The “Core Principles” of the mental game. The only thing you really need to do. What “Seeing the Ball” really means and improve your consistency immediately. The natural way of breathing when hitting a ball. You will be amazed at how relaxed you will be. The “Mother of all Tips” that will absolutely groove your strokes immediately. Tennis strategy that really works that you won't find anywhere else. 14 terrific tennis exercises to help you practice your mental game and improve your play at an accelerated rate. And much more! Order the Best Tennis Book: Only ($14.95) Here is what one of my book owners said about tennis psychology and my book I own a lot of tennis books, and your book is excellent. I have read some other mental tennis books, but I have a hard time finishing them because of all the boring Psychology terms which make me fall asleep. I love your book because it is written by a tennis player. It is easy understand, and apply. Thank you. P.T. Here is what a USPTA teaching professional in Texas discovered I have been reading your newsletters since about October of last year (2006). After much skepticism I purchased your book. Because it is not very expensive, I could afford to take a chance to read about what you teach. As a tennis instructor I am always curious as to what else is going on in the tennis industry to try to keep up with what is going on out there. I have to say, your book has helped my game immensely. I have never felt IN MY ENTIRE LIFE I have ever played up to my potential. I played one year of college tennis at Lamar University in Beaumont, TX in 1987 - 1988. I got burned out (just very frustrated) and swore I was never going to play again. Long story short, I ended up teaching lessons in 1993 and have been ever since. After reading your e-book (and I am not done yet) my game has elevated immensely. I have to tell you that I am starting to hit shots that I know that I can make. I should say, I am allowing my body to make the shots that I know it can make. Other people can actually see what I know that my body is capable of doing. I am also not getting angry and letting my conscious mind interfere with my other subconscious mind. I haven't finished your book yet, because I am having so much fun focusing and concentrating on the spin of the ball to the blur of my racket and breathing through the bounce and the hit during rallies and from the serve through the return during those shots as well. Mike Alcott, USPTA Head Tennis Professional, The Briar Club Houston, TX 77027 When you know and implement the mental game "Core Principles" you will have it all. You will play better and more consistently, be much more mentally tough, and the icing on the cake is that you will enjoy playing so much more. Here is what my friend Ken Stuart wrote in the Foreword for my book. (Ken is a former world class player and the owner of Palisades Tennis Club in Newport Beach, CA) If you are reading these words, two things are certain: You are likely serious about your tennis, and you believe there is something out there that is going to make you a better tennis player. This book is it! During my tennis teaching days, I was often asked; "Ken, can you teach me a forehand, backhand, overhead smash, footwork, etc." I always answered in the affirmative and followed it with, "Oh yeah, I can also teach you how to play tennis because they (your strokes) are not much related to playing the game." Rarely, if ever, do you have the opportunity to read something that has been written first hand. This book will make you a better tennis player because the information in it is tried, tested and true. And it comes from a great tennis player in his own right; David Ranney. Dave's experience speaks for itself, and his advice in this book is solid. Here are some questions you can ask yourself to determine the value of the content in this book. Who has a better forehand, Roger Federer or Andre Agassi? Who has a better backhand, Lindsay Davenport or Serena Williams? Who was a better player, Pete Sampras or Rod Laver? The answer to each of these questions is that it is essentially indistinguishable. The logical conclusion is then that if "strokes" don't make the difference among all these greats then what does? EXACTLY! It is the mental part of the game that each of these people is commonly great at. You too can become a much, much better player without changing your strokes. The great coach Robert Van't Hof once said; "If you do the right thing at the right time in tennis you are likely going to win." The catch is how do you get there? This book will give you a path to follow. Use it and you'll be miles ahead of people you are equal with now. You need only to look back at how many countless hours you have put into the development of your strokes. Now you have to spend the same dedication on the mental part of your game. Dave Ranney will guide you through the steps you need to practice to become a much better tennis player.   More About My Book
