NABF October 2008 Message from the President Written by Rex Walker
Hello to all,
While we were in China, we worked hard to see that all of our NABF champions are rated very high in the WBC ratings. As you know, many of our champions are now WBC champions, and the quality of our fighters in the past four years has improved immensely—they are recognized as contenders for world titles. In Las Vegas, our former NABF Light Heavyweight champion, Chad Dawson, recently defeated Antonio Tarver in a brilliantly fought bout. Many of the pundits felt that Antonio Tarver was too skilled and too experienced for Chad to be so successful. Congratulations, Chad!

NABF light heavyweight champ Chris Henry, Orange, TX made a sucessful defense of his NABF title in a voluntary/optional defense against tough Corey Cummings of Baltimore, MD, retaining his belt on an unanimous decision.

Judges:Â Don "Cowboy" Griffin, Jesse Reyes, Oren Shellenberger
Supervisor:Â Claude Jackson
Promoter:Â Steve Crosson and Dallas Petroleum Club.
Although Henry pitched a near shutout on the judges' cards, there was lots of action in this bout with the attendees at this private party event cheering - seemingly evenly for both men - from the start to finish.Â
