Anderson Makes All-American Team
Ohio Community College Athletic Conference player of the year, Mark Anderson, has been named a National Junior College Athletic Conference 2nd team Division II Men's Basketball All-American. Anderson was the leading scorer in NJCAA Division II basketball this season averaging 25.8 points a game for OCCAC school Sinclair Community College. Columbus State Plays Into the Semi-Finals at Nationals
Columbus State Community College continues their run through the NJCAA Division II Men' Basketball National Championship. The Cougars defeated Prince George's Community College last night 78-69. The win moves Columbus State into the semi-finals of the National Championship Tournament where they will play host school Danville Area Community College. The game is at 8:30 tonight. Columbus State Wins National Tournament Opener
Columbus State Community College won their first round game in the NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball National Championships. The Cougars defeated Erie Community College 67-64. It is an upset win for Columbus State CC. Erie CC was ranked at 5th in the national in NJCAA D2 Men's Basketball.Columbus State CC next plays Prince George's Community College tomorrow night at 6:30pm. Columbus State Begins National Championship Run Tomorrow
Ohio Community College Athletic Conference school Columbus State Community College Men's Basketball begins play tomorrow, March 19, in the NJCAA Men's Division II National Basketball Championships at Danville Community College in Danville, IL. Game time is 6pm.The Cougars play Erie Community College. Erie is ranked 5th on the NJCAA Men's D2 polls. Columbus State CC may not come into the game with a high seed but they do come in with a high powered offense. Columbus State was one of the top scoring teams in the OCCAC this season and are ranked 7th in the country in team offense.All conference 2nd team member, Brandon Bland leads an even offensive attack. Bland averages 11.6 points a game. He is joined in double figure scoring by five other Columbus State players - Cyrus Smith, 12.8; Mariano Bowles, 12.1; Greg LaSage, 10.7; Jerell Sanders, 10.1 and Marcus Britt 10.6. Marcus Britt has the hot hand for the Cougars going into the game. Britt shot himself to the MVP crown at the Region XII District 7 Championships.

Columbus State Heads to National Tournament
Columbus State Community College won the NJCAA Region XII District 7 Championship and a seed at the NJCAA Division II Natonal Men's Basketball Championships by defeating Sinclair Community College 79-63.Marcus Britt was the Cougars top scorer with 30 points. Britt was named the tournament MVP. Region XII District 7 Begins Today!
Ohio Community College Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Teams begin their run for the NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball National Championship today in the Region XII District 7 Championships at Cuyahoga Community College, in Cleveland Ohio. Games begin at 3:00 pm. Results and statistics from the tournament will be posted at http://www.njcaaregion12.org/7/The District 7 tournament will feature some of the National Junior College Athletic Association Men's Basketball Division II top athletes. Team rounddowns:Sinclair Community College is the top seed in the tournament they are lead by the nations number one scorer, Mark Anderson. Anderson is the OCCAC Player of the Year. He puts up 25.8 points a game for the Pride making him the number one individual scorer in NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball Stats. Anderson stats go a long way toward placing Sinclar at 11th in the nation in Team Offensive Average. British Alexander, the OCCAC's Newcomer of the Year, dominates the lane for Sinclair. Alexander blocks 3.6 shots a game and pulls down 7.7 rebounds a game. Jay Frantz is Sinclair's other double digit scorer with a 10.2 average, along with 5.3 rebounds per game. Frantz is also Sinclair's second leading assist's man, dishing out 3.3 assists per game. Point guard Jon Tate leads Sinclair in assists with 4 apg. Columbus State Community College is all about offense. They are the 7th most powerful offense in the country according to the NJCAA Division Men's Statistics. OCCAC All-conference second team member, Brando Bland leads the Cougars, by playing an all-round game. Bland gets 11.6 points per game, 5.3 rebounds a game, 2.7 assists a game and 1.6 steals a game. Columbus State has 5 players averaging in double figures, joining Bland is Mariano Bowles-12.2 ppg, Cyrus Smith-12.8 ppg, Greg LeSage-10.8ppg, Jerrell Sanders-10.1ppg.Lakeland Community College features a stellar backcourt. Brian Wright gets 6.06 assists per game placing him at 14 in the nation in NJCAA D2 basketball. Wright also was second in OCCAC scoring this year racking up 20.29 points per game. Wright's high scoring teammate, Jahmil Rippy, OCCAC first team All Conference selection, added 19.36 ppg, placing him at 4th in OCCAC scoring. Third guard, DeMarco Richardson, is 8th in the nation in steals per game with 3.04. Richardson also pulls down 9.93 rebounds a game, the third bast rebounding total in the OCCAC conference. Backing up the Lakers guards is OCCAC Honorable Mention Selection, Roderick Fuller. Fuller averaged 13 point per game and 9.17 rebounds per game in the OCCAC this season.Edison Community College goes as Forward Tristen Welch goes. Welch is an OCCAC All-conference first team member who averaged 19.6 points per game in conference play along with 7.92 rebounds per game, 6.3 assists per game and 1.92 steals per game. Welch gets plenty of help from OCCAC Honorable Mention player, Paris Harris. Harris scores 16.6 points per game while dishing out 3.1 assists per game.Cuyahoga Community College is the tourrnament host. They are lead by OCCAC All-conference first team selection Rudy Evans.Clark State Community College has Debari Johnson. Johnson ranks 6th in the nation in rebounding for Clark State and he pulls in an average of 12.2 rebounds a game. Martez Scales dishes out 8.4 assist a game, ranking him at 4 in the nation in NJCAA Div II basketball. Scales is joined on the national stats by teammate Robert Perdue who ranks 11th with 6.5 assists per game.

OCCAC Men's Basketball Awards Announced
It's been quite a week for the Sinclair Community College Men's Basketball Team in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference. Early in the week they were named the OCCC Champions. Yesterday the Pride's Freshman center, Mark Anderson was named the conference Most Valuable Player. Anderson has led the conference all season in scoring, averaging 23.21 points a game in conference play, along with 9.71 rebounds a game.Sinclair CC freshman forward, British Alexander was named the OCCAC Newcomer of the Year. Alexander dominated the middle for the Pride getting 3.6 blocked shots a game, while scoring 11.71 points a game and pulling in 7.29 rebounds a game.Sinclair coach Jeff Price was named co-coach of the year along with Lakeland Community College coach Terry Bowe. OCCAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week.
The Ohio Community College Athletic Conference is proud to announce Bryan Wright, Lakeland Community College sophmore guard is the OCCAC player of the week for Men's Basketball for the week ending Feruary 24. Wright had 17 points, 6 rebounds, 11 assists and 3 steals in a win over Cuyahoga Community College and 27 points, 4 rebounds, 9 assists and 6 steals against Sinclair Community College. "Bryan is a pivotal player in our offensive game. We go when he goes, and he is at his best when he is distributing the basketball. He also is one of the top defenders in the conference which is often over shadowed by his offensive game. " says Lakeland Coach Terry Bowes.

Spoiler Night!
It was an evening of upsets in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference basketball. Edison Community College started the spoiler stampede by defeating the conference's top women's basketball team Sinclair Community College, 65-55. Edison CC came at Sinclair CC with a solid team effort, Jamie Kreitzer scored 17 points and pulled down 6 rebounds, Gail Hartings had 16 points with 9 rebounds and Brenda Hemmilgam added 14 points and 7 rebounds. Autumn Helfin lead Sinclair in scoring with 15 points followed by Danielle Roe with 11 points and 10 rebounds.At Columbus State Community College they had a huge night with their women's basketball team defeating conference's number two women's basketball team, Cincinnati State Technical and Community College, 72-69. Then in the biggest upset of the evening the Columbus State Community College men's team defeated Cincinnati State Technical and Community College, the OCCAC top team and 4th in the nation, 72-69.The upsets setup what should be great post-season basketball. With virtual parity among all the top teams for both men's and the women's basketball anyone could win the District Championship and move on to the National Junior College Athletic Association National Championships.The Men's District Championships will be played at Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, March 7-9. The OCCAC women's basketball teams will play at either District G being hosted by Edison Community College in Piqua on March 5-8 or District H at Oakland Community College in Waterford MI. OCCAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Sinclair Community College Sophmore forward, Jay Frantz, is the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week. Frantz helped Sinclair upset the conference's 2nd place team, Owens Community College, 93-88 in double overtime. Frantz has 23pts, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal for the game.
