After a longish delay I am updating the page again. It's now the 2008 racing season and karting
in the Vancouver area has seen some really big changes. At Westwood Karting there was a huge competition between
large kart shops and the largest one looks to have won out. The other has moved most of it's resources to the
Coastal Kart Racers, also racing out of
CARTBC. Check with the kart clubs and shops for current
information on kart racing locally.
I have been getting press releases from only a couple of sources of late, and so I only have their
information to pass on. I welcome any news about karting locally or former kart racers. Contact me at

TaG ICC Recap
May 15, 2008 The all new Stars of Karting TaG ICC class is off to a strong start, after two
successful showing in Ocala and Utah. The racing has been extremely close and times have been very competitive
throughout the field. With a different championship leader in East and West the talent pool for the class
continues to grow each event.
In Ocala it was the Italian Motors pilot, Michael Hogg capturing both victories. In Utah it was
Bryan Eady of Leading Edge staying up front throughout both finals on Sunday. Last year’s Spec Racer champion,
Devon Sandeen has joined the TaG ICC ranks, Utah was his shifter debut and by Sunday he was in fray of some
great racing. Jose Zanella and Matthew Mair have also both landed podium positions and will be forces to
reckon with as the season progresses.
Prize money has been a strong motivating factor thus far in the TaG ICC class, with Hogg and
Eady having already won $1,000 each for their dual victories. Keeping drivers honest and putting a major
incentive on the line has made for some quality racing.
The claimer rule has also been introduced in the TaG ICC class this year. This rule stipulates
that any engine that finishes in the top three in either final can be claimed. This concept adds a whole
new dimension to the class allowing any current or prospective racers the ability to purchase a proven
Stars of Karting race winning engine package.
Next up is the Race of America’s at the New Castle Motorsports Park in Indiana
May 30 - June 1st. TaG ICC continues to grow. Rules and specifications on the TaG ICC class can be found

The TaG ICC engine package will also be running at the 2008 TaG World Championships at Grand
Junction in Colorado. The K9ES made its debut last year with great success as Michael Valiante captured

BRENDAN LANGLOIS: VICTORIOUS IN FORD FOCUS MIDGETS
Canadian pilot and Ron Sutton’s Winners Circle take the checkers
Kamloops, BC. - March 19, 2008 After joining the Ron Sutton’s Winners Circle Driver
Development Program (RSWC) and getting the initial race under his belt, Canadian Brendan Langlois
took the checkers at the Toyota Speedway in Irwindale, California.
In only his second event in the K & N Ford Focus Midget Series, Langlois utilized his natural
skills and abilities to maneuver his way to the point after qualifying in the fourth position. After the
qualifying invert, Langlois found himself starting on the inside of row two for the 30 lap feature event.
Brendan’s goal was to take the lead early and hold his competitors at bay and that is exactly what he did
as he took the top spot early in the race. As the caution flags began to fly, Langlois paced his
competitors and quickly learned how to do a restart in the Ford Focus program. With zero experience,
Langlois completed four caution flag restarts perfectly to retain the lead and take the victory.
"I'm really happy with how the weekend went," explained Langlois after the event.
"Winning in only my second Focus Midget race is an amazing way to start the season and I look
forward to continuing to run strong throughout 2008." Brendan also went on to add, "I would like
to say a special thank you to the whole Ron Sutton's Winners Circle Team and my crew chief Jeff and
crew member Mark as well as Alpinestars for their continued support."
"Brendan showed he is here to compete," stated head of driver development Ron Sutton.
"Winning in his second USAC Ford Focus Midget race shows the fire and talent this young driver really
has. His Crew Chief and I couldn't be more impressed."
After the event, Langlois was notified that he may be the first ever driver to have won a USAC
Ford Focus Midget race at the young age of 15.
In a world where results are needed to stay ahead of the game, Langlois has proven himself
for the past two seasons. Claiming the Stars of Karting East coast Junior Intercontinental A (JICA)
championship in 2007 helped launch Brendan’s dream to begin his climb up the Motorsports ladder.
Brendan will continue to work through the 16 weekend Ford Focus Midget program. The British
Columbia resident will compete in other high profile events such as the annual Turkey Shootout in
Irwindale in November. Langlois will also stay sharp with some testing on dirt ovals as well as return
to his roots of karting with the FirstKart.com race team that helped him achieve his success in the
2007 racing season.
