What's
new in the Fiddy world?
Glad you asked. updated 11/15/08
Tom and Candy Nielsons "Brawl for it
all", Wisconsin's premier mini bike
event was held at the Tucker Rocky's
employee's front yard track on Oct. 25th.
Rain the night before threatened to ruin the
event, but as luck would have it, the rain
minted the track up perfectly. Dirt was hard
enough that little wheels could get over it
nicely, but soft enough with the moisture
that there was no dust and traction was
abundant.
Johnny Greaves of Potawatomi Racing,
Monster Energy, CORR off road truck fame
handled the track duties, and formed up an
enviable track for all of us. John owns a
tracked skid steer that is the best tool for
this job, and he knows how to drive it. I'm
glad he chose to drive that instead of a
mini bike because when he's on two wheels,
there's never anybody in front of him.

Aaron Strobel can be viewed at
http://picasaweb.google.com/aaron.270/2008BrawlForItAll02#5261516533179801186
Previous event pictures can be seen at
Steve Kasters website at
http://www.shoptherideshop.com/
Starts were handled by a bungy cord
that was worked perfectly, right up to the
point that it unhooked itself from the post,
and recoiled straight into the "cord
pullers" groin area. I was sitting on my
bike waiting for the start about 5 feet from
this poor guy. He was pulling with all his
might, we heard a snap and this poor bastard
was on the ground rolling and yelling in
agony. Hopefully he's had all his kids
already, because it would be iffy now. For
some reason he couldn't answer my question
on if we'd have a restart. Luckily we did.
Football style cups will be required from
now on.
I am #15 on a Polini 110, and my posse
consists of #437 Doug Forstner, #828 Matt
Bronk, and his son Talon, all on highly
modified KLX 110's. Add our ages up and we
cover almost a decade and a half, so we try
to stay out of the way, but put up a good
fight when there is a fight to be had. We
had a Vet moto where Doug won, Matt took
second and I took third. Those guys can make
little bikes fly and I felt lucky to keep
them in sight.
There were several fun races run all
day dividing people up into bike sizes, age
groups and gender, but at the end of the day
we have the "Coup de gras", the run what you
brung, and the reason they call it the
"Brawl". You have TTR125's, KLX110's, XR50's
all of varying degrees of trickness, and all
age groups and ability levels piled into the
mix. We all line up to find out who the Man
(or woman) (or kid) really is. This year
brought out some Wisconsin A class racers,
and every year one of them borrows a bike
and kicks everyone's ass. It happened again
this year when Ryan Gilbert borrowed event
promoter Tom Nielson's KLX140. Last year
Shaun Miller borrowed Steve Kaster's CRF150
and stole a win from Doug Forstner. The race
had a couple of twists thrown in when the
race organizers stopped the race and lined
us up single file, then started it up again.
Lappers were allowed to stay in the position
they were in on the track, so when the
restart would happen, chaos would ensue.
All in all it was working out great, I
was having a good time enjoying my mid to
back of the pack position when all of the
sudden I heard a bike coming up behind me.
This is a race, and I was eager to have one,
only the guy behind me was an idiot and
drove right through me. Our bars locked on a
4th gear straight, we rag dolled over our
bikes, and basically held a yard sale at the
end of the straighaway. I was ready to kill
this guy, but to my dismay, his arm was
broken. Better luck next time.
Every year this event grows bigger and
bigger, and the competition get tougher and
tougher. Tom has the party of the century
every year after the race with a full blown
mega bonfire at the center, and many half
barrells keeping the masses hydrated. Tucker
and Tom, and others have a drawing with
great give away's, and the top three in the
"coup" get awards for their work. I left
early with a 5 day headache from my crash,
but I will always be back for this great
event.

Last
night at the Bookoo Arenacross: (11/10/06)
Pro Pit Bike rider TJ Russell was racing
hard, then makes the decision to sling-shot
around the berm, ran flat out towards the
catapult, never shuts off and launches 70'
through the air! Came up just a "little"
short and
double folded his bike breaking the
front-end almost off!! The crowd went crazy,
the pro riders watching the race closed
their eyes, the announcer was speechless,
the paramedics couldn't believe it!! TJ
waved to the crowd and carried his bike off
the track

Pit Racer is still on the gas and sent me
two entertaining and fun issues. You really
need to subscribe and stay on top of things
at
www.pitracermag.com. Check out
this
supercharged fiddy from New Zealand. Eye
popping HP! And another forum to check out.
PitRacer magazine
has been with us for one year.....and
counting. The opening editorial from
editor Steve Cox sums it up great, they
are rounding for Lap Two, and you should
be riding with them. The Fiddy world
need specialized magazines for dealers
to showcase their products and stay
alive. The big bike magazines test
fiddies like oddities, but
PitRacer
and
Mini
Moto
are here
for us, and only us. Subscribe now and
keep them going, they are great mags and
worth the read. Full glossy paper
throughout, and will definitely be
collectibles in a few years. They can
get you all the back issues no problem.
This just
don't happen every day, and what a great
angle for the photo. MC takes it on the

Czechoslovakia.
Fug sent this over, its a fiddie from the
GP in Zolder. Those Europeans can fiddy too!
