Ayr Classic Motorcycle Club Home | Contact | Programme | Join Us | Classic Show | Gallery | Links | Tool Loan About Us Membership of Ayr Classic Motorcycle Club is open to anyone with an interest in classic motorcycles. You don't have to own a classic bike, or even a bike of any kind, to become a member.  Ayr Classic Show We are a group of like-minded people with an interest in classic motorcycles. The club meets throughout the winter months from September to April at Glenburn Miners' Club, Glenburn Road, Prestwick KA9 2NS (click here for a map), on the second Wednesday of each month, at 7.30 p.m. The Club was formed in 1988 after Dick Hodge placed an advert in the local press in Ayr, asking for all those interested in forming a classic motorcycle club to contact him to arrange a meeting. The club has progressed from the early meetings of nine or ten to a membership of about a hundred and thirty today, coming from as far afield as Argyll, Perthshire, Fife, Cumbria, Lancashire and Yorkshire. Regular attendees at meetings travel from Lanarkshire, Dumfries and Galloway, Glasgow and Paisley, and the rest of Ayrshire. Tea, coffee and sandwiches are provided at these evening meetings. A typical winter programme for these evening meetings would include a bring & buy, a talk by a trade representative or similar, an evening with a motorcyclists organisation or Police Road Safety personnel, a discussion panel with personalities from motorcycle sport, an inter-club quiz, and a video night. A general chat night is, of course, a must for any planned syllabus. During the summer months there is a programme of runs and shows, and of course, the club's own Scottish Classic Motorcycle Show in June. The runs cover, generally, a day trip from Ayr, and can be up into Argyll, over to Arran, across to the Borders counties, or down into the Galloway area. We get the mixture of weather that you have to expect in Scotland, but the runs are well attended, and, if you are unsure about the reliability of your machine, there are plenty of willing hands should something go wrong. Each year the club looks at organising something different for a summer outing. Altogether quite a full events programme As well as organising runs, the club takes stand space at several of the vintage and classic shows in the south west of Scotland. We have been regular attendees at Biggar Classic Vehicle Show, Culzean Classic Vehicle Show, and the classic vehicle event at Chatelherault Country Park, as well as others. The club also takes a stand at The Scottish Motorcycle Show at Ingliston in March each year. The highlight of the club year, as already noted, is of course The Scottish Classic Motorcycle Show, held in June at the Rowallan Activity Centre, Fenwick, Ayrshire. If you own or are interested in motorcycles which are at least fifteen years old then this club gives you the opportunity to meet others with similar machines, to discuss common topics, and take part in organised runs and events. There is also a monthly newsletter keeping you up to date with snippets of information, and a facility to buy and sell bikes and parts via this website. Membership of the club is open to anyone with an interest in classic motorcycles and costs just £10.00 subscription.
