Click here to download (4 MB pdf) Kelowna United Results Kelowna United U13 Boys Team 2 Battle Vernon Kelowna United’s U13 Boys Team 2 were defeated 4-1 by Vernon United Sunday in a game that saw Vernon open the scoring early in play. KU had several good shots on net but were unable to capitalize on scoring opportunities including a shot by Tyler Shalansky taken off a run and well-placed pass by Cameron Bunce and a free kick by Brett Rintoul that failed to connect. KU continued to pressure but were denied once again when Gary Hunter's high hard shot was stopped by the Vernon goalie. Goalkeeper Alex Hart had a strong first half making several key saves that kept the score to 1-0 at the end of the half. Vernon scored early in the second half as United struggled with the heat and no play substitutes to provide relief. KU midfielders Andrew Humphreys, Quintin Torresan, Keevin Lee and Hunter stepped up the offensive pressure. Then with must 10 minutes to go, Torreson blasted a free kick into the six yard box where Shalansky controlled it with his chest before passing it to Lee, who scored on a high shot over the goalie's head into the back of the net. Determined to maintain their lead, Vernon scored in the final five minutes of play, bringing the result to 4-1. KU U15 Boys Team 1 Outplay Penticton for 1-0 Win Playing a man short, Kelowna’s U15 Boys team 1 played a smart passing game that resulted in a 1-0 win over Penticton. The game was scoreless at the end of the first half despite several close chances by midfielders Jordan Ajamzadeh, Brooks Coble- Sagayadan, Dylan Vicaretti and Patrick Chore, who eventually assisted Nathan Whitling’s winning goal. United continued to dominate and Penticton’s few opportunities were quickly shut down by defenders Robert Hewitt, Marty Wallace, Mark Gamble and Eric Chore as well as keeper Ariel Aguilar, who recorded his eighth shut out in 12 games. KU 15 Girls play to a draw in Penticton The KU 15 Girls took their unbeaten streak to 3 games in a hotly contested game versus the Penticton Pinacles. Kelowna struck early on a superb solo effort by Spencer Knapp. The Kelowna girls controlled much of the game with crisp passing and excellent chances on net but were unable to beat the Penticton keeper a second time. Even when playing with only 10 players for portions of the game in order to give the girls some time to rest the Kelowna team played an impressive game. Kelowna keeper Chynna Trites was only beaten by a fantastic top corner shot from a Penticton striker. Exceptional effort was put forth by all the girls but special mention goes to Mackenzie Scherer and Madison Naito. KU U14 Girls Team 1 Add to Unbeaten Streak With 8-1 Win Kelowna’s U14 Girls team 1 continued their 13-game unbeaten streak with a convincing 8-1 win over Shuswap. Kelowna’s Kelsey Reid played her best game of the season, scoring just three minutes into the first half and adding two more in the second. Shuswap tied the game briefly at the six-minute mark before Kelowna took control and added a series of goals including two by Anna Leitch and singles by Brenlee Reid, Bree Naka and keeper Baily Weymouth, who scored on a penalty shot after being pulled from goal to play forward for 15 minutes. Assisting were Mikayla Sherry, Nikayla Gabriel, Katie Capozzi, Jess Randhawa, Hailey Myers ,Reid, Leitch. KU Girls U13 Team 1 Trounce Shuswap 3-0 One week after winning the provincial championships the KU girls U-13 (team 1) returned to TOYSL action Sunday, defeating Shuswap 3-0. United wasted little time, jumping to a one-goal lead at the 4-minute mark when Chrissy MacDonald chipped the ball over the Shuswap defenders to Morgan Marrs whose breakaway ended with an expertly chipped ball to the bottom corner. United struck again at the 12-minute mark when Laina Burton easily beat the Shuswap keeper on a feed from Jasmine Randhawa. Morgan Marrs added United’s third late in the half however Kelowna was unable to get past the skilled Shuswap keeper to add further second-half goals.
