Also, the team race at selected European events like the Mettet Superbiker race, which is contested by the world’s finest Supermotard competitors as well as road race world champions like Troy Corser and leading Motocross exponents like multiple world champion Stephan Everts. Supermoto racing is catching on fast in the UK, thanks to championships like the NORAsport series, but has a long way to go to catch up with the popularity of European Supermoto racing where the sport was first seen through the Guidon d’Or races in the 1980s. Supermoto paddocks are well known for their friendly atmosphere, Supermoto racing is always close and spectacular, offering great value to spectator and Supermoto competitor alike. If you have not yet experienced the atmosphere and excitement of a Supermoto race meeting, give it a try, you may well be converted! We were.carl abram - supermoto rider - carl abramFrom the earliest days, Carl knew that he wanted to race bikes of some sort. The daily commute just did not really satisfy the lust for speed that drove Carl to pursue a career in motorcycle engineering. From relatively humble beginnings, his road bike career saw a number of increasingly special bikes come and go.The Supermoto bug bit really deep when Carl read an article in Performance Bikes Magazine. Here at last was a medium through which he could express his love of outright speed combined with enthusiasm for the jumps, whoops and berms found in motocross.carl abram - supermoto rider - the teamAs in so many sports, no man is an island. without the support of a number of key people none of the race effort would be possible. The cornerstone of the effort is Sallyanne, the team manager. Without the tireless efforts in managing paperwork, sponsors, suppliers and organisers, there would be no race effort.Family help and support is also vital in keeping the bike and rider in tip top condition. This is a common factor shared by many Supermoto competitors, giving the paddock an atomosphere of friendly rivalry. Special thanks go to Dave who has so often gone the extra mile to help out.carl abram - supermoto rider - the bikeModel: Kawasaki KX450 D6FCapacity: 449ccSingle cylinder, DOHCHorsepower: 60.5bhp @ 8600RPMTorque: 5.6KgM@7200RPMTuning work has been carried out by Carl, in conjunction with GP Performance whose tuning centre and rolling road facility is based just outside Reading.Carl was also responsible for the chassis mods, with fork and rear unit customisation by Carl under the watchful eye of Thierry Godfroid.
