Wallingford Rowing Club Thames Street Wallingford Oxon OX10 0HD England Welcome previous event  Wallingford Regatta Sunday 4th May 2008 to the Wallingford Rowing Club The picturesque town of Wallingford is located in Oxfordshire, roughly midway between Reading and Oxford. The rowing club is situated near the old Wallingford Bridge. We row on the longest stretch of the non-tidal Thames on over 10km of water between the locks at Benson and Cleeve (at Goring on Thames). We have a modern fleet of boats, consisting of eights, coxed fours, coxless fours/quads, pairs/doubles and singles. Everyone uses cleaver blades and plastic boats. We welcome: Beginners and novices. Once you have completed the beginners course you join the novice squad. There's an option to compete at regattas in the summer. Training usually starts after Christmas. If you have already rowed before and would like to be part of a squad, contact the relevant squad captain. However, if you simply wish to carry on rowing in a more recreational capacity, the Novice Coach will provide you with details of other recreational rowers and activities. Juniors. With an active junior squad of over 30, from new starters to those who have represented Great Britain, there's a great opportunity to get fit and make new friends outside school or college. Contact the Junior Coach. Men and Women. For those wishing to row competitively under the driection and control of the captain. Open to all members who train regularly and can commit themselves to the racing calendar and training requirements. Each squad is tutored by a prefessional coach. Training is approximately four evenings a week with double outings at the weekend. Squads aim to compete at Henley Royal Regatta, Women's Henley and the National Championships. Contact the Mens' or Womens' Squad Captain. Scullers. We have a number of recreational scullers who either use club boats or have ther own racked at the club. There is a growing number of competitive scullers who train outside the senior squads, although they occasionally row or compete in Wallingford Squad boats. A few of these scullers are training for GB squad and National Championshop medals. For more details contact the Chairman. Veterans. There are two veteran men's squads, one of which is one of the best in the country. The other, accommodates 20+ experienced members who train regularly, balancing competition and enjoyment.
