OWENS TO MAKE FIRST SHORT
TRACK START IN 2008
The Hantz Group 200 ARCA RE/MAX Series race at
Toledo Speedway marks the first short track race
of the 2008 season for Alli Owens. The Daytona
Beach, FL native has much experience on
short tracks but has yet to start on one in the
ARCA RE/MAX Series. Her last short track start
was in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series in
2007.
“I’m looking
forward to coming back to my roots,” said Owens.
“Short track racing is where I started and
racing on one always feels like home. It’s
something I’m very familiar with.”
Owens and the
ElectrifyingCareers.com Racing team tested at
Toledo Speedway last month. The one day test
session familiarized Owens with the historic
half-mile oval and also built up her confidence.
“It’s a good
thing we tested because we were way off when we
started,” said Owens. “After making some
changes, we were much faster and more
consistent. Heading into the weekend with a
proven setup gives me a lot of confidence.”
The No. 12
ElectrifyingCareers.com Chevrolet that Owens
will be driving in the Hantz Group 200 is nick
named Garfield. At Rockingham in May, Owens
drove Garfield to a 15th place finish.
THE ‘BIG ONE’ ENDS OWENS’
DAY EARLY AT TALLADEGA
Talladega, AL (October 4, 2008) - When racing on
a superspeedway, every driver’s biggest fear is
getting caught up in the ‘big one’ - a multi-car
crash which eliminates them from the race. In
the ARCA RE/MAX 250 at Talladega Superspeedway,
Alli Owens’ fear became reality.
The 20-year-old driver qualified
her No. 12 ElectrifyingCareers.com Chevrolet
18th fastest and was looking forward to a full
day of racing on the 2.66 mile track. But when
another driver suffered a cut tire on lap 11, an
11 car incident ensued and left Owens with a
destroyed race car. She finished 41st.
“I barely broke
a sweat today,” said Owens. “My race was over
that quick. I saw the wreck in front of me and
thought I was through it when a spinning car hit
me. There was nothing I could do. It’s a huge
let down for me, the team and especially the
IBEW Fifth District which came on-board as my
sponsor for this race.”
Owens’ next race is the season ending ARCA
RE/MAX Series race in Toledo, OH. It is being
held on October 12 at Toledo Speedway.
OWENS
TO MAKE SECOND SUPERSPEEDWAY START
Alli Owens will make her second career start on
a superspeedway in Friday’s ARCA RE/MAX 250 at
Talladega Superspeedway. The 20-year-old made
her first superspeedway start in February at
Daytona International Speedway. A superspeedway
is a track that is 2.5 Miles or greater in
length.
“I’m glad to have
another chance this season to race on a
superspeedway,” said Owens. “I’m very proud of
what we were able to accomplish in Daytona but
our finish was not what I had hoped for. I have
a lot more experience with the cars and my
competitors than I did in February. I’m
approaching this race with a much different
perspective.”
The No. 12
ElectrifyingCareers.com Chevrolet which Owens
will be piloting is named ‘Barney’. It is the
same car she raced at Daytona.

NECA
CONVENTION -
Following Friday’s ARCA RE/MAX 250 at Talladega
Superspeedway, Alli Owens will head to Chicago,
IL to attend the National Electrical Contractors
Association’s (NECA) annual Convention. The show
features opportunities to discover new products
and services, learn about best practices,
network and explore new markets.
Owens’ primary sponsor,
ElectrifyingCareers.com, is a joint effort of
NECA and IBEW to recruit new entrants into the
world of electrical workers.
ALLI OWENS FINISHES 27th
AT THE NEW JERSEY MOTORSPORTS PARK
Millville, NJ (September 29, 2008) - For the
past seven years, Alli Owens has been racing
exclusively on oval tracks but on Sunday, the
20-year-old had her first taste of road racing
in the Loud Energy Drink 150 ARCA RE/MAX Series
race at New Jersey Motorsports Park. Driving her
No. 12 ElectrifyingCareers.com Chevrolet, with
additional support from IBEW Local 351 and
Southern New Jersey NECA, she finished
respectably in 27th.
Owens took a
few laps to find her way around the 2.3 mile
circuit but once she found her comfort zone, she
began to move through the field. The Daytona
Beach, Fla. native worked her way into the 12th
position when on lap 32, contact from another
car in esses sent her off the track. Owens tried
feverishly to restart her car but was initially
unable. Once it restarted, she returned to the
action three laps behind the leaders.

OWENS MAKES ROAD RACING
DEBUT
After seven years of competing on ovals, Alli
Owens will make her first road course start in
Sunday’s Loud Energy Drink 150 at the New Jersey
Motorsports Park. Prior to joining the ARCA
RE/MAX Series in 2008, Owens, 20, raced on the
short tracks of Florida and North Carolina. “I
know this race is going to be a lot different
from what I’m used to, but I’m always up for a
challenge,” said Owens. “Our goal is realistic -
to finish on the lead lap. If I don’t abuse my
transmission or brakes and focus on hitting my
marks, I know we can do it.” This race also
marks the first road course event for DGM
Racing, which fields the No. 12
ElectrifyingCareers.com Chevrolet for Owens. “We
are very well prepared for this race,” said team
owner Mario Gosselin. “Our equipment is top
notch and so is our pit crew.” Owens prepared
for this race by completing the Advanced Road
Racing Course at the Bondurant School of High
Performance Driving. Also, in March she tested a
V8 StockCar Road Racing Series car at the
historic Sebring International Raceway.
