Golf

Posted by admin in Golf 07 5th, 2008My father has been a model for me, mostly because I believe he’s the best there is. So I have thought of writing about him and his interests. My dad works overseas, and doesn’t come home often, but when he does, his usual activities never change, such as watching Filipino movies and us eating at Angeles Fried Chicken. These never fail. Then there’s golf. I always tease my dad since when he’s in his house clothes with his slippers; you’d always find a mark on his ankle, a sock shadow that’s maybe three times lighter than his skin tone. He’d always say as an excuse that it was due to too much playing golf. Well, this is true since when he comes home he’d always play golf with his friends at Mimosa, Clark. He’d stay out for the whole sunny day with his cap, shirt, shorts, socks and shoes. It has been his favorite sport and I’d frequently fin him also watching golf on the tube. And then he’d tell me stories about his games in golf and how many times he’d won. These are the moments I enjoy and consider as bonding time with my loving dad.read comments (0)

Synchronized Swimming

Posted by admin in Swimming 06 11th, 2008There’s nothing good on T.V. during afternoons. This time I always find myself in a bore with nothing to do at home but to flush myself with nothing else but the television. After hours of continuous surfing, hoping for at least a decent watch, I find myself come across swimmers, since I enjoy swimming myself, and was amazed on how beautifully they perform and project under cold waters. Then I have learned that it is called Synchronized swimming, which is a cross between swimming, gymnastics, and dance, consisting of swimmers either individually, in duets, teams or combos who perform a coordinated routine of highly structured and dramatic moves underwater, accompanied by music. The sport would necessitate skills for the routines, and require strength, control, flexibility, elegance, artistic ability and accurate timing, not to mention exceptional breath control while upside down during their underwater stunts.read comments (0)

Refreshing Drink

Posted by admin in Sports 04 2nd, 2008At an inter-hospital basketball match, I see to it that I watch and support the competitions where my home hospital competes. It is a game that most of us are eager in watching. At the bench of our players, I often observe that in most games, or might I say all, refreshments such as Gatorade is always present. Gatorade is a flavored non-carbonated sports drink formulated to rehydrate and replenish fluid, carbohydrates and electrolytes during physically active occasions. In 2000, Gatorade introduced Propel Fit Water, which has the same electrolytes as Gatorade, along with some vitamins, which makes it similar to Vitamin Water. Gatorade’s main competition is POWERade which is currently number two in the sports drink market worldwide. Gatorade remains the market leader with about 83.1 percent market share.read comments (0)

The Pac Man and Boxing

Posted by admin in Boxing 03 12th, 2008Boxing is a sport that most Filipinos show interest and pride in. Mostly because of one Professional Boxer who frequently brings home the bacon for the Filipino hearts. Manny Pacquiao, took over as the foremost boxer in the world, announced last June 9, 2008, after years that Floyd Mayweather Jr. announced his retirement from boxing. He is the first Filipino and Asian boxer to win four world titles in four weight divisions. He is currently the WBC Lightweight Champion and the WBC Super Featherweight Champion, and was the former world champion at IBF Super Bantamweight, and WBC Flyweight divisions. To this date, among 52 boxing fights Manny Pacquiao has competed, he won 90% or 47 fights, and out of these wins, 35 were wins by knock out. Only 2 were declared draws and 3 as losses.read comments (0)

Cheer Dancing

Posted by admin in Uncategorized 02 14th, 2008Cheerleading today has outgrown its original definition as a means of rooting for a certain team or individual in an activity. It has even become in itself a still developing sport genre and a mix of dance and acrobatics. With the advent of internationally released, Cheerleading based films such as “Bring it On” and broadcasts of the cheerleading competitions in ESPN, it has heavily influenced several countries including ours. Here in the Philippines, cheerleading or cheerdance, as it is more favorably called, is highly broadcasted during Interschool competitions such as the UAAP and the NCAA and is well received by the masses, inspiring mostly the youth. Despite the western origin of professional cheerleading, the Filipinos have distinctly put their mark on this remarkable sport with their trademark role calls and movements.read comments (0)

BADMINTON

Posted by admin in Badminton 01 23rd, 2008When I was still studying, I look forward to summer breaks, and vacations the most. “Why?” you might ask. It is because of one simple reason: my brothers and I would always celebrate whatever occasion there is in Marikina. Since our parents are working outside the country, they obliged our aunt at Marikina to take over in making our vacations worthwhile, which they always did. We go to different places and do different activities. We grew fond of playing badminton since our family is inclined to being gravitationally challenged. I always enjoy playing the game since we do it for fun, and has health advantages. Even my little cousins aged 5 and above join us in playing. The bonding we share during these seasons will never grow old in my memory.read comments (0)

Ateneo-La Salle Rivalry

Posted by admin in Basketball 12 23rd, 2007I am a senior high school student who is still undecided to where I would pursue my college degree. Having parents who want nothing but the best for me, they have given me few choices, Ateneo, De la Salle, UST or UP. Most of my friends have applied either at Ateneo or at De la Salle University, so I’d rather follow where my peers are rather than to start on my own. Then I was bugged by one of the hardest decisions I shall make in my life since I believe that my college university would make a big influence on my future career. Being sports-inclined and a frequent watcher or the UAAP, I remembered that the two universities had been long rivals. The dispute between Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles and De La Salle University-Manila Green Archers is one of the most hotly-contested rivalries in Philippine sport. However by the record, La Salle was said to lead. This may be one of the many things I shall consider as I make my decision that is nearly due.read comments (0)

NBA basketball at its finest

Posted by admin in Basketball 11 11th, 2007As a young kid, I have never been exposed to any sport whatsoever. It’s not that I’m not interested; I was just not given a chance to be familiar with it. I was just usually more of a watcher, and a cheerer than an actual player. I only remember swimming when I was in early grade school, and that was that. I also watched the NBA with my grandfather with the Chicago Bulls as my favorite team, when Michael Jordan was still the best player among others, but today, I no longer recognize the teams that play. I would often hear my guy friends getting all excited about upcoming games and would even bet on who wins, leaving me silent. But sometimes I try to watch it on T.V. hoping for the spark of interest to come back, but it only seems there’s none left for me to be considered as an avid audience like my guys.read comments (0)

Sports for the disabled

Posted by admin in Sports 10 4th, 2007Around us, the people cheer for and excite themselves in the forthcoming Beijing Olympic Games as it was said to make possible many things most people thought was not. But one of the things most propose impossible is the chance for the disabled people to play sports. Disabled Sports are played by persons with physical and intellectual disabilities. Many of these are based on existing sports that are tailored to meet the needs of disabled persons and they are sometimes referred to as adapted sports. There are a wide range of sports adapted for varying types of disabilities, as well as several that are unique to disabled sports. Within each movement, different sports are practiced at different levels. In addition, many sports are practiced by persons with a disability outside the formal sports movements. This gives a chance for people with physical or intellectual limits to set aside their vulnerable state to a person with optimum functioning.read comments (0) Copyright © Cycle St. Lucia Sport Theme by Triathlon Training | Designed for Hostmonster, Web Hosting, Web hosting reviews
