Fellow Cyclists
The Cycle classic is on our doorstep again and with it the Tour de Windhoek. Come feel like a pro riding a multi day event and enter the tour to test yourself against namibia's best. For more info click on the Tour logo at Big Events.
The second half of the year is coming up with a very exciting calendar structure. Don't forget wednesday evenening TTs for preparation for the TT Nationals. Click on Calendar to see.
Olympic Road Race
We would like to congratulate Erik Hoffmann on his 22nd place at the Olympics.
Erik finished the 245km race only 2min36sec behind winner Samuel Sanches of Spain.
Erik was very happy with his achievement stating that he felt great throughout the race and had a good rhythm going up the climbs and he could follow the main peloton without hassle. The decicive peloton slitting attacks only came on the last lap when Andy Schleck put in some big efforts to rid the competition. Knowing that the attacks would come, Erik found it very hard to be at the right place at the right time as there are a number of riders who want to do the same. As the first African Erik was very elated and with this performance has shown that he can be up there with the best in the word and that there is definitely more to come.
The race was not all smooth though as Erik rode on hot coals throughout the race. He noticed a small crack in his frame the night before while washing his bike. Quick work by Manager Patrick de Goede got Erik a new frame in the morning, but it was the wrong sizing and so Erik decided do race his slightly damaged horse.
