It's ALIVE!The debut of the restored Mondello & Matsubara Fiat...at the California Hot Rod Reunion in Bakersfield!With Sush Matsubara's grandson Daine in the seat, Pete Eastwood, Brendan Murry and Karpo Murk fire this thing up for the crowd on Saturday afternoon. And you can see me scurrying around, ducking under the camera, taking still shots...October 13, 2007 Oh yeah, and I hosed the main page which is why the page looks like it does. Guess I'd better practice more! I'll have to get a back-up copy from home and fix this up...maybe I'll be forced to update, maybe? NOBODY CAN I.D. THIS CAR!!! ...well, except for this guy...  The roadster you don't know .....it only ran that way one time ! That car is the blue Blazer-# 2-built by ROADSTER MAN Jack Eckelson, from Fullerton, CA.The car can be identified by the front fuel tank-up -right -with the radiator shell around it.The car was Driven that day by Tom Ferraro,it had a FUNNY car motor ''borrowed from -Ray Alley ''. The car went 202-M.P.H. that day. I am not sure but that was one-of-the first 200-mph runs if not the first at LIONS for a AA/FA. ''Willie'' may have done it but i think it was at IRWINDALE. Tom Ferraro and RAY,told me that they would make that 100-'' WHEEL-base car go over 200-i think 'tom hoven' (John Hoven?)-was the wrench,But i would have to take the lettering off the car,so we Painted the car and went to long beach,and Tom went 202-MPH-OFF THE TRAILER.We loaded the car and went back to RAY's shop and took his motor and clutch out of the car.I went to KEITH BLACK and and bought a MOTOR and SLIDER clutch,we went to IRWINDALE and went 205-ha/ha/ha............. KNOW what's funny---back then a KEITH BLACK -392/and slider clutch___complete was 10,000-$...................................... i just got your web site and it was good to see some of the old cars.The pic of Al Carter(dead) driving the AA/FA,at the BAKERSFIELD fUEL/GAS championships-1964/1965..is a classic......500-cubic inch on ALCOHOL/and 10-% nitro, i owned the car and AL drove for me.JIMMY NIX (dead)-helped me build the big STROKER motor.THAT was the first BLUE BLAZER-i had my name on the car some ,but so many guys helped me that i /we decided to name it.When i landed in CALIFORNIA 1964-i found LEON FITZJEAROLD/etc. in ANAHEIM,ca and we ran -until,i contracted ROADSTER MAN JACK ECKELSON-fullerton ca. and we built the no.2-car ,cause they now had SLIDER clutches...etc.etc.etc, in 1967-the AA/FA SLOWED and there was no money ,so i sold the AA/FA trailer/tow car/tools parts-to BOB Hankins. I Went BOAT racing with HONKER at CLAY SMITH,and we killed a few 100,000-$ doing SINK the BOAT...ha,ha.Then funny cars and a couple TOP FUEL-cars. One more thing...here at Fuel Altered Central, we're a bit short on pics of Fuel Altereds, between 1980 and 1990... these are mostly the later model Transformer cars (either Fuel Altered or Funny Car), and we need to fill that chronological hole there...so we can bring in the newer cars. So scan them pictures, and e-mail 'em to us here...at the "info" link below. Thanks! Try the new Google search engine...just type in the name of what you're looking for! But, things I hope you WON'T find are... "Funnys" , "Gassers", "Camaro", "carbs", "Super Stock"...these have all been searched for by previous visitors.
