bested their previous Class B high mark of fifth place to earn
fourth in the National Tourney. Yes, gentle reader, the headline
said third; read on.

Women Earn 9th in Soggy 2000 Nationals
Again in 2000 Spectators
showed they are one of the best in the country. Spectators Women's
Softball from Sanford, ME. took advantage of a strong start
to finish the 2000 National Tournament in 9th place. With strong
defense & 7 players batting above .500 for the weekend tournament,
Spectators outscored their opponents 43-18.

Spectators Women's team responded with flying
colors after the huge step from Class C to Class B National level
play. In 1998, Spectators finished what many teams would consider
a once in a lifetime tournament as they swept through the field
at the C nationals to finish as national champion runners-up.

Spectators Sports Bar sponsors the team, but these women do
much more than sit around and watch TV. The Spectators were
on the road last weekend in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and the
team came within two victories of winning a National Championship.
