2008 CCCAM COACH OF THE YEAR
From the 20 coaches honored as Region Coach of the Year, Juli Goodwin, Allen Park High School, has been selected to receive the honor of Competitive Cheer Coach of the Year and will represent our sport at the Michigan High School Coaches Association Coach-of-the-Year Dinner in the fall. 2008-09 COMPETITIVE CHEER RULES CHANGES
At its May 2008 meeting, the MHSAA representative Council adopted a number of Competitive Cheer changes for 2008-09. Click here to see what will be new next year.
COACHES ADVANCEMENT PROGRAM
CCCAM will be hosting CAP training the same weekend as the Summit. Get your first CAP certification after the first 12 hours. The training is offered thru MHSAA at a cost of $60 per session. Cap 1 will be October 10th 9-4 at the MHSAA building and Cap 2 will be October 12th 9-4 at the MHSAA building. Click here to check mhsaa.com for complete schedule and enrollment form.
DISTRICTS ADDED FOR COMPETITIVE CHEER
In an effort to support the continued growth of Competitive Cheer, the MHSAA Representative Council has approved a proposal to reformat the 2009 Competitive Cheer Tournament by allowing districts to occur in the 2009 school year. The preferred date for this district level competition is Saturday, February 21, 2009 (with some allowance the first year only). The regional date for Competitive Cheer is February 28, 2009 with the finals on March 6 and 7, 2009. The format of the tournament will include six districts in each division, from which four teams would advance to each of two Regions in each division, from which four teams would advance to the Finals in each division.
2008 COACHES HALL OF FAME
Selection for the first class of inductees into the Competitive Cheer Coaches Hall of Fame are complete. The recipients are being honored for their outstanding contribution to the sport of Competitive Cheer and will be introduced at the 2008 CCCAM SUMMIT on Saturday, Oct 11. Hope to see you there.
2008 FALL SUMMIT
Save the date of Oct 11, 2008, for this year's CCCAM Fall Summit, to be held at the Kellogg Center at Michigan State University. Whether you are a new or an experienced competitive cheer coach, the summit and rules meeting has something for everyone. Click here for a registration form and schedule.
2008 SCHOLARSHIP INVITATIONAL
CCCAM is thrilled to be able to offer scholarships to our Competitive Cheer athletes each year! Over $26,000 was awarded in 2008. One of the prerequisites for eligibility is participation in the annual Scholarship Invitational. Your athletes work hard to maintain high academic standards-show them you appreciate their achievements and get your registration in early for the December 13, 2008 Invitational. Registration is closed at 20 teams per location. Five locations: Comstock Park, Otsego, Wyandotte Roosevelt, Harrison, and Stoney Creek. Click here for registration information.

2008 SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS NAMED
Of the 70+ applications received, 21 of our outstanding athletes have earned a portion of the $26,500 purse to share. The record-setting amount being awarded would not be possible without the continued support of the teams attending the CCCAM Scholarship Invitational in December of each year. Congratulations to the deserving athletes of Competitive Cheer.
INDIVIDUAL AND TEAM ACADEMIC RECOGNITION
Congratulations to the teams and individuals being recognized on your academic achievements. Athletes selected for individual honors have a GPA of 3.8 or higher. Teams with a minimum, cumulative GPA of 3.0 are also recognized. Congratulations on your outstanding achievement!
